The New York Times has ranked Helsinki as number two of the world’s most interesting destinations in 2012 – one reason being Helsinki’s nomination as the World Design Capital and all events throughout the year connected to this. The second reason is the newly opened Helsinki Music Centre with its internationally acclaimed stellar acoustics – allegedly so good it brought the professional musicians to tears when they experienced it.

Helsinki is changing rapidly and can now boost boutique hotels, cool bars and internationally acclaimed restaurants. Helsinki is also interesting from an architectural point of view and still stands at a crossroads between East and West.

Scandinavian Incentives will be your partner arranging meetings and incentives in this pulsating and interesting city . If you have a limited budget you may find the rates more agreeable than in Scandinavia and with Finland being in the EURO zone you need not worry about exchange rates.

Trondheim in Mid-Norway is a beautiful historic city, located on the Trondheim fjord. But time does not stand still: it is growing in many ways, not least with many new hotels! The latest one is the Clarion Hotel & Congress, due to open now in April. By 2014, Trondheim will have 23 hotels – quite a lot for a city with about 200.000 inhabitants!

In Norway, most people leave the cities behind and spend the Easter time with their families in a cabin. Many go to the mountains for some cross-country-skiing; others might already try a first swim in the fjord. Children look for chocolate Easter eggs on Easter Sunday.

In Copenhagen, the famous Tivoli amusement park opens its doors again for the season just after Easter on 12th April. Every Friday evening, they offer free concerts with well-known artists – you just need a ticket to the park.

Scandinavian Incentives is happy to organize an evening with a dinner at Copenhagen’s Tivoli for you!

Sweden is one of the largest exporters of pop and rock music in the world. Many Swedish artists have enjoyed success on the British and American charts and in other English speaking countries.
Think of ABBA , Roxette, Europe, Ace of Base & Robyn! In Stockholm you can join in a tour with music as a theme, where you will be shown Stockholm from a different angle. As a final touch you can even make your own hit-record in a professional studio.

For rock and pop enthusiasts, a visit to Rockheim in Trondheim in mid-Norway is an absolute must! The National experience centre for rock and pop as it is officially called gives its visitors a great insight to Norwegian pop history from the 50ies until today. The exhibitions are interactive, exciting and engaging, the experience room allows you to try mixing your own hip hop loops or learn play guitar. But also those interested in architecture will love Rockheim: built on top of a former flower storage, it is a colourful and impressive sight down at the new harbour area Brattørkaia.

Stockholm has many trendy hotels – the trendiest is surely the STORY Hotel. Located right in the hub of business, shopping, nightlife and culture in the very centre of Stockholm. The interior design of Story Hotel, inspired by worn down New York restaurants and chic bohemian hotels in Paris, won the European Hotel Design Award in 2009. Story Hotel has the latest technology with on-line reservations and check-in.

Be cool in Norway!
One of the coolest hotels in Norway opened in Stavanger in 2010 – the Comfort Hotel Square. It is designed in a very rough and hip style, with bare concrete walls, huge graffiti and unusual art. The roof top terrace allows a wonderful view over the city centre; come and enjoy a drink here after your ecological meal at the in-house restaurant Foodstory. Technical gadgets like an iPod docking station in the rooms are a matter of course!

“Dramatic beauty in the Scandinavian wilderness” – this is how the New York Times described the area of the famous Geirangerfjord. And not only is this one of the most beautiful spots in the country but also worth protecting through the UNESCO world heritage list that encompasses over 900 properties worldwide. Besides Geiranger, the mining town of Røros, the famous Bryggen wharf in Bergen, the ancient rock drawings in Alta and the stave church in Urnes got listed.

In Denmark, the famous Kronborg Caste and the impressive Cathedral of Roskilde made it to the prestigious list. As in Norway, the sites do a great job in combining tourism and public interest with the conservation efforts.

In Sweden there are 14 sites on the list including natural phenomena as the Area of Laponia, the High Coast and the agricultural area of Southern Öland. In addition there are man-made sites like the Hanseatic City of Visby, The Drottningholm Palace ,the Stockholm Cemetery and the Rock Carvings in Tanum.
